Stefanie Hinkle, PhD

Assistant Professor of Epidemiology

Stefanie N. Hinkle, PhD, is a nutritional and perinatal epidemiologist in the Departments of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics and Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. Dr. Hinkle’s research focuses on the nutritional status of individuals in preconception and pregnancy and the impact on pregnancy outcomes. Of specific interest is the role of iodine in preconception and pregnancy. Other research interests include examining the consequences of food insecurity and potential interventions to alleviate food insecurity and improve nutritional status in affected communities. Dr. Hinkle’s work has also demonstrated the importance of pregnancy exposures such as gestational weight gain and the development of adverse pregnancy outcomes on long-term mortality.
